Published Dec 10, 2013Timber Timbre have been relatively quiet over the last year or two, but the spooky Ontario folk outfit will be making their return in 2014. Hot Dreams is out on April 1 through Arts & Crafts.
The album came together during 2013, with frontman Taylor Kirk enlisting returning collaborator Simon Trottier to co-write and co-produce. It was engineered by Graham Lessard (Young Galaxy, Stars, Plants and Animals) at the Banff Centre and at Montreal's Hotel2Tango. Synths were added at Calgary's National Music Centre and mixing was handled by Mark Lawson (Arcade Fire, Colin Stetson).
Guests include Tasseomancy's Romy Lightman on backing vocals, Fiver/the Highest Order's Simone Schmidt writing words, and Colin Stetson playing what a press release calls "atypically velvet saxophone." The result is reportedly the project's "most vividly cinematic music to date, adding arid western and viscous tonality to Timber Timbre's signature haunted folk."
Scroll past Timber Timbre's tour dates below to watch a short trailer for the album. It includes a clip of new music with some of that aforementioned velvety sax.
This is the follow-up to the band's 2011 album Creep on Creepin' On.
