Just finished my new single "One Night Samba" and getting a band together to record my next album.
Hometown and current HQ:
Cambridge is my hometown very pretty and very boring. London is the present HQ bloody wonderful place.
Current fixations:
70s porn, bossa nova, history, beetroot

Monteverdi's Vespres
Most memorable/inspirational gig and why?
Terry Callier at the Jazz Cafe in London. Absolutely incredible, there wasn't a dry eye in the place.
What should everyone shut up about?

Your greatest strength/weakness:
I have a great ability to grow beards. I'm lazy.
Your vital daily ritual:
Listening to "Composer of the week" on BBC Radio 3 in the morning.
Guilty pleasure:
I never feel guilty about anything.
If I wasn't playing music I would be.

I was a waiter but got sacked from every job I had.
Best advice received:
Step lightly, stay free.
I would drop everything to play a benefit for:
Any anti-nationalist organisation.
What makes you want to take it off and get it on?
Girls. I love them.

Doing too many drugs. Yes.

I was once on a plane with Roy Ayres and his band, Ray Davis from the Kinks and Sinead O'Connor but it wasn't that strange.
What does your mom wish you were doing instead?
She's very happy that I'm doing what I love and wouldn't have it any other way.
