Tim Hecker and Daniel Lopatin Team Up for 'Instrumental Tourist,' Share New Track

Daniel Lopatin (aka Oneohtrix Point Never) and Canadian experimental soundscapist Tim Hecker recently noted that they had a free jazz-inspired collaboration on the horizon, and we now know the album will be titled Instrumental Tourist. Coming as the first part of a new series called SSTUDIOS to be issued through Lopatin's Software imprint, the joint effort will drop November 20.

A press release explains that SSTUDIOS "invites artists in the field of electronic music to create collaborative works of quality and vision." With Instrumental Tourist, Lopatin and Hecker have apparently "designed a sound palette from the acoustic resonance of digitally-sourced 'Instruments of the World.'"

Furthermore, they "mimic the tropes and techniques of jazz-based improvisation, with little preparation prior."

You can nab a sneak peek of the album in the video for the ethereal electro-acoustic drone "Uptown Psychedelia" down below.
