Tierra Whack Returns with Playful New Video for "Dora"

Philadelphia rapper Tierra Whack has returned with her first official single of the year, "Dora."

Following her debut release, Whack World, back in 2018, Whack has been steadily releasing one-off tracks, and with "Dora," she's celebrating her success. She raps, "When I go to sleep, Gucci sheets now / Forty thousand, turn that shit to fifty thousand / Bitch I'm wildin' / Stranded on an island / Money piling / Rolex 'cause I put that time in."

Director Alex Da Corte brought another type of energy to the accompanying video, a project he described as "a tabletop ballet." The resulting release is a colourful, playful and funny two-minute animated clip that should warm hearts in this cold, uncertain time.

"Thinking of the ways in which Aretha Franklin, Fred Rogers and Jim Henson navigated the world through good times and bad times with determined positivity was deeply inspiring to me during the making of this video," Da Corte said of the video. "To make Tierra laugh was in some ways the best I could do on the hardest of days."

For the video, Da Corte is joined by stop motion animator Matt Bogacki, 3D animators Harvey Benschoter, Tim Rusterholz, Jason Hsu, Jason Harmon and Peter Olieman, and 2D animators Raymo Ventura, Jared DeFrees, Mike Wert and Scott J. Ross.
