T.I. Protégé Alfamega Actually A D.E.A. Snitch
With rapper T.I. heading to jail this month for weapons charges and driving with a suspended license, there is no question that the Atlanta rapper has had some strong ties to the criminal world in his past. What is rather shocking, however, is the fact that The Smoking Gun revealed earlier this week that T.I. associate and Grand Hustle signee Alfamega is, in fact, a former informant for the D.E.A.

As The Smoking Gun explains, Cedric "Alfamega" Zellars worked "as a Drug Enforcement Administration informant who snitched out criminal cohorts and testified as a government witness at the trial of an Atlanta heroin trafficker." Court records show that Zellars began working with law enforcement officials after he was sentenced in September 1995 to 110 months in a federal gun case (Zellars, who had a prior felony robbery conviction, was collared for selling weapons to an undercover federal agent). Zellars "agreed to cooperate with authorities and was debriefed" about the criminal activity of several individuals."

While the mantra of "snitches get stitches" has become a common truth in the world of gangsta rap and gangster movies alike, Alfamega seems to be doing fine. But we'll see how this affects future sales of his Grand Hustle debut, I Am Alfamega, which came out late last year.
