Thy Art Is Murder Announce 'Human Target' Album, Unveil Video for Title Track

BY Bradley Zorgdrager Published Apr 26, 2019

Australian death metal/deathcore titans Thy Art Is Murder have announced that their new album Human Target will drop July 26 via Nuclear Blast. They have also unveiled a video for the title track.

Human Target marks the band's fifth album overall, their fourth produced/engineered/mixed by Will Putney and their second featuring art Eliran Kantor. It's also their second since vocalist CJ McMahon returned post-hiatus.

Our Aggressive Tendencies YouTube channel discussed that with him, and you can watch it here.

Another interview during their Dear Desolation cycle had the vocalist revealing they dove into politics on that previous LP, and considering the press release for their newest says it comes "against this backdrop of postmodern dystopia, chaos, and confusion," it appears that may continue.

Guitarist Andy Marsh comments on the title track:

"Human Target" was the last song written for the album as I felt we lacked an opening track to set the mood and provide the impact for what was to come. Human organ harvesting had been brought to my attention as a serious matter that wasn't receiving much coverage (or not enough for me to hear about it) and I thought the issue required more scrutiny and awareness. To distill the metaphors of proletariat subjugation down to the visceral injustice of taking away the engines of life, seemed to be a powerful atmosphere to open the record.

You can see the tracklist below, followed by their previously announced tour dates with Architects and While She Sleeps. The North American leg includes Canadian dates in Montreal and Toronto.
