Thurston Moore Joins Forces with This Heat's Charles Hayward for New Album

Sonic Youth hero Thurston Moore has announced a new album. For better or worse, though, it's not his techno record.

Instead, Moore has teamed up with Charles Hayward of post-punk innovators This Heat for a collaborative album called Improvisations. The album will arrive on December 8 via Care in the Community.

As you'd expect from that title, the album is just that — a series of seven unnamed, improvised pieces. All of them were recorded in a single afternoon at Lynchmob Studio in London. The pair have dabbled together in the past, but this will mark their first collaborative album.

You can get an idea of what to expect via a lengthy recording session video below.

Moore's last solo album was this year's Rock n Roll Consciousness, while the mighty This Heat was recently celebrated with a reissue series from Light in the Attic.
