Last year, Scandinavian free jazz freaks the Thing released their acclaimed sixth album BOOT! While touring the release, the group teamed up with indie rock guitar god Thurston Moore, and the two acts cranked out a live album that will finally see release next month.
While speaking with Exclaim! to promote his The Best Day last month, Moore hinted that the LP was on the way. Simply called The Thing with Thurston Moore Live, the album was recorded at London's Cafe OTO in February 2013. It wasn't until July of this year that the recordings were mixed and mastered, and the album will finally see the light of day on December 9 via the band's own the Thing Records.
The album is billed with Thing members Mats Gustafsson on baritone saxophone, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten on electric bass and Paal Nilssen-Love on drums, with Thurston Moore manning the guitar.
Some fan-shot footage from the live performance is available below.
