Published Jan 15, 2009Though it's currently absolutely freezing in Toronto, the forthcoming WINTERCITY Festival promises that venturing outdoors into the cold will be worth the occasional bout of frostbite. Running from January 30 to February 12, WINTERCITY will feature free entertainment taking place in the city's famous Nathan Phillips Square. This year's fest will include a number of events but more importantly, a concert series that sees some of Canada's brightest acts peforming, again, for free.
On Saturday, January 31, the series kicks off with a double bill of the nation's two hottest hip-hop acts: Toronto's Thunderheist and Shad, followed the next Saturday (February 7) by Montreal's the Stills. In addition, Promise DJs Glow (January 31) and Twilight (February 7) will keep folks warm and moving with the club atmosphere that will fill the RBC WINTERCITY Lodge.
