Published Jun 13, 2013While the punny band name may make it seem like a joke, members of Thrice, Curl Up and Die and more have apparently joined forces to perform in a baseball-themed crew called Puig Destroyer.
The group, whose name mashes together that of grind icons Pig Destroyer and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig, features Mike Minnick of Curl Up and Die, Ian Miller and Jon Howell of Kowloon Walled City, and Thrice's Riley Breckenridge. The latter confirmed the band's existence in a statement and noted that their debut EP will feature fastball drum-programming flying in at 220 bpm.
"We've got basic tracking done for our debut EP, and we should have a track from said EP fairly soon," Breckenridge wrote, adding, "The roughs I've heard are ridiculously awesome and fun and raw as all hell. Kinda like Yasiel Puig."
While an ETA has yet to be delivered for the as-yet-untitled outing, here's hoping the supergroup knock's it out of the park before the boys of summer pack it in for the season.
Thanks to Lambgoat for the tip.
