Three Fans Stabbed, 50 Arrested and Four Tanks Deployed at Colombian Metallica Concert

A Metallica concert at Bogota's Simon Bolivar Park in Colombia ended in a riot yesterday (March 10).

Three people were stabbed, a policeman was injured and about 50 fans were arrested, according to Colombia Reports [via Blabbermouth], after hundreds of fans unable to secure tickets to the event stormed the stadium to see Colombia's first Metallica concert in 11 years. Three civilians and the policeman were hospitalized following the incident.

It's believed that prior to the concert, ticketless fans were using Facebook to spread the word to rush the venue. It's unknown exactly how many fans ended up at the show, as Colombian media sources report anywhere between 20,000 to 70,000.

The authorities were apparently ready for any freak occurrence during the event: approximately 1,500 police officers stood guard at the concert, and they were joined by several police trucks and, we kid you not, four tanks.

Colombian media were reportedly unaware that tanks were being deployed.
