Jessi Zazu, singer of the Nashville alternative rock band Those Darlins, has passed away at the age of 28 following a battle with cervical cancer.
Zazu had revealed her diagnosis in 2016, saying, "I decided to go forth with treatment and try to beat it.... I spent eight weeks of chemo and radiation treatment this summer…all the treatment was working."
She also sold T-shirts with the phrase "Ain't Afraid" on them, raising $50,000 for her medical bills in the process.
The news of her passing was confirmed by the Tennessean, which reported that "Zazu died surrounded by family, friends and fellow musicians who lined the waiting room inside Centennial Hospital's intensive care unit."
