Jawbreaker fans rejoice! Your fearless front-man, Blake Scharzenbach, has unveiled a new project called Thorns of Life. The band also feature Crimpshrine and Pinhead Gunpowder member Aaron Cometbus on drums, as well as The L Word actress Daniela Sea on bass. The band are gearing up to enter the studio with punk rock wunderkind J. Robbins to record their debut album.
While Sea has played bass for the numerous live Thorns shows, rumour has it that she may not be on the album. Many are saying that Robbins will fill in; he told the A.V. Club that "Dale Nixon" will be playing on the album. "Dale Nixon" is a fake name that has been used on many a classic album, including Black Flag's My War.
Whatever the case, live videos of the band suggest that Thorns of Life will sound a lot more like Jawbreaker and a lot less like Schwarzenbach's other band, Jets to Brazil.
