Thom Yorke Names New Group Atoms for Peace, Announces U.S. Tour with Flying Lotus

When we reported Thom Yorke's new group were playing Coachella, we were excited, sure, but we were a little baffled as to why the oft-intellectual Yorke couldn't come up with a better name for the group than "Thom Yorke ????". Surely Flea, Nigel Godrich, percussionist Mauro Refosco and drummer Joey Waronker were worth more than a question mark each, right?

Turns out they are. The band have been renamed Atoms for Peace, after Thom Yorke's song of the same name on his solo album The Eraser. The group, as previously mentioned, were assembled to flesh out the performance of Yorke's solo songs.

With a fancy new name like that, why not parade it around a little? The band have planned a handful of tour dates for the month of April, leading up to their Coachella performance. No Canadian dates yet, but we've got our fingers crossed.

Psych-tronic hip-hop DJ Flying Lotus will open all the dates except Santa Barbara and Coachella.

Tour dates:

4/5 New York, NY - Roseland Ballroom
4/6 New York, NY - Roseland Ballroom
4/8 Boston, MA - Citi Wang Theatre
4/10 Chicago, IL - Aragon Ballroom
4/11 Chicago, IL - Aragon Ballroom
4/14 Oakland, CA - Fox Theatre
4/15 Oakland, CA - Fox Theatre
4/17 Santa Barbara, CA - Santa Barbara Bowl
4/18 Indio, CA - Coachella
