Third Man Records Is Opening "the Most Incredible Vinyl Pressing Plant in the World"

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Jan 13, 2017

Back in 2015, Third Man Records opened a retail store in label boss Jack White's home city of Detroit, while also promising that a full-blown record pressing plant wouldn't be far behind. Now, the label is teasing the official opening of "the most incredible vinyl pressing plant in the world," which will be located in the city.

A minute-long teaser video from the label shows a giant record pressing machine at work, with the promise that "something is happening in the Cass Corridor." The video reads that information on the pressing plant's grand opening will be available soon while also branding Third Man as "the label that made vinyl important again."

Though that's quite the claim to make, you can take in White and co.'s teaser in the player below. Vinyl pressing recently took a hit north of the border with the recent closure of Canada Boy Vinyl.

Stay tuned for further information on Third Man Pressing as it becomes available.

UPDATE (01/19, 6 p.m. EST): The pressing plant is now set to open on February 25 and will feature "eight of the first newly built presses built in 35 years."
