Thievery Corporation Announce Culture of Fear

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 4, 2011

Over the last 15 years, celebrated DJ duo Thievery Corporation have laid out countless laid-back grooves for the masses by fusing bossa nova and Brazilian beats with tripped-out psych moments. While the outfit will likely touch upon their past on their upcoming sixth album, Culture of Fear, the band appear to have some new tricks up their sleeves.

The new album is set to drop June 28 on ESL Music, and ccording to the press release, Thievery Corporation "continue to blend musical styles in their trademark fashion; space-rock jams lead to hip-hop inspired grooves, airy downtemp trances and dub-reggae infused vibes throughout the journey."

Highlights are said to include the '70s space-funk homage "Web of Deception" and the rock-meets-electronic dance jam "Take My Soul," featuring longtime collaborator LouLou. Boston rapper Mr. Lif also drops by for the title track.

While a full tracklisting has yet to be revealed, you can get a taste of what's to come via a mash-up of album tracks in the SoundCloud player below.

Thievery Corporation will also be touring the world in support of the record, hitting up New York, Lisbon, Athens and more with a full live band. As of yet, no Canadian dates have been announced, but you can check their schedule here.
