Thick As Blood Living Proof

Thick As Blood Living Proof
There's something to be said for taking an album at face value and Thick as Blood's Living Proof goes straight for your face with a sound reminiscent of Hatebreed's glory days. Though the hardcore/metalcore pioneers have since descended into bro-mosh territory, bands like Thick as Blood and Lionheart are attempting to fill the void left by Jamey Jasta and company. Although most songs on Living Proof are closer to Lionheart's straightforward take on the sound, a few bring metallic riffs to the forefront – most notably "Headaches" and album standout "Full Measure." The latter opens with a riff very similar to Hatebreed's "As Diehard as They Come" and continues in a similar fashion throughout. While Thick as Blood's take on the classic Hatebreed sound doesn't touch the original product, it's good enough to fill the void, or at least a pit. "Unruly" kicks off with, "Blood, sweat and no tears," and though it may be cheesy, it's also a perfect indicator of the tough guy mosh music contained within. (Rise)
