They Might Be Giants, Barenaked Ladies Do Disney Music Block Party Tour

BY Cam LindsayPublished May 30, 2008

In what could be the best dream team touring combo for kids since Raffi did '85 with Sharon, Lois & Bram [the existence of this tour is just an assumption and could not actually be confirmed], two of today's biggest draws for the kiddies, They Might Be Giants and Barenaked Ladies, have joined forces this summer for the Disney Music Block Party tour.

Okay, so Barenaked Ladies might be new to the child circuit, but their latest album Snack Time is a set of original children's songs, and we think they can likely hold their own in front of a six to 11 audience. If not, TMBG will certainly save them with their adept knowledge of both the ABCs and 123s.

Set for 23 dates across North America in July and August, the tour is a festival-style event that will also include Exclaim! favourites like Imagination Movers, Dan Zanes, Ralph's World, Choo Choo Soul, and of course, Cosby Show alum, Raven-Symone.

Kicking off on July 25 in Toms River, NJ, the artist line-ups will vary by city, and but will also include a host of activity zones where kids can try out the latest Playskool toys, make their own music, throw down on the dance floor, and watch Playhouse Disney programs. (Can somebody say product placement extravaganza?)
