Theophilus London Working with Kanye West and Drake on New Album

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Dec 19, 2012

This summer, New York-based avant rapper Theophilus London delivered a guest-heavy mixtape called Rose Island Vol. 1, which featured appearances from the likes of Big Boi and A$AP Rocky. Apparently, London's next proper LP is shaping up to be a star-studded affair as well.

An interview with R&R Productions [via Hip Hop DX] had the rapper revealing that he started work on the LP in November, and the as-yet-unnamed album should arrive sometime in the summer. Details on the self-described set of "emotional club music" are slim, but London did note that he's tapped an assortment of artists, including Kanye West, current Solange producer/Blood Orange member Dev Hynes and Drake, to help him out.

"I'm recording with kids in Paris, Bradinsky. I was at Kanye's place yesterday with Travi$ Scott, we recorded some shit," he said, adding, "Dev Hynes from London is going to be on that shit. My nigga Drake, that's my nigga."

Though it's unclear what West's role is on the LP, just having the G.O.O.D. Music mogul alongside him in the studio seemed to leave an impression on London.

"We haven't really got too in-depth work," London explained. "Just being around him, seeing how he feels about music, fashion, all that stuff is very inspiring. All the G.O.O.D. Music kids, they're friends of mine. Virgil [Abloh], Travis, Kanye."

The LP will be the official follow-up 2011's Timez Are Weird These Days.
