Thee Oh Sees

'Mutilator Defeated at Last' (album stream)

John Dwyer is being characteristically prolific this spring. Not only does he have a solo Damaged Bug album due out on June 1, but Thee Oh Sees have a new LP called Mutilator Defeated at Last. Ahead of its release on May 18 through Castle Face Records, Thee Oh Sees' album can be streamed in full.

While Dwyer's work with Damaged Bug ventures into synth-driven directions, Thee Oh Sees continue to emphasis raw garage rock. There is spacious psych riffing in opener "Web" and closer "Palace Doctor," scorching feedback in "Withered Hand," postoral acoustic plucking in "Holy Smoke," and an atmospheric 7-minute jam in the form of "Sticky Hulks." For the most part, Dwyer and company kick up a lively racket.
