The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die's New Album Took Its Name from 'Dark Souls'

The band will bring 'Illusory Walls' to Toronto on tour this November

The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die have shared details of a new album. The American emo outfit will share their fourth LP Illusory Walls digitally on October 8 through Epitaph, ahead of a vinyl release on December 3.

Following 2017's Always Foreign, the 11-song Illusory Walls takes its title from an element of 2011 video game Dark Souls that, as vocalist/guitarist David F. Bello explains, "refers to a hidden surface that seems to prevent entry, but upon inspection is nothing more than a visual illusion."

"Invading the World of the Guilty as a Spirit of Vengeance" — the title of which is another Dark Souls reference — is the first album track to arrive. In-game, it's the title of a gameplay mechanic in which the player must seek revenge on a character for compromising their home base, while the song's lyrics question the continued corporate dominance over all aspects of our lives.

Alongside the album news, TWIABP have mapped out a North American tour for this October and November, which will see them make a lone stop in Canada. The band will play Toronto's Lee's Palace on November 6. Further ticketing information can be found through the band's website.
