The Weeknd recently delivered My Dear Melancholy, and now Abel Tesfaye is giving us a behind-the-scenes look at his new "project" with a short film called "He Was Never There."

Along with some hazed-out visuals, the video is largely made up of footage showcasing Tesfaye recording his latest release, with audio clips featuring explanation from both Tesfaye and his collaborators. You can watch the new Joachim Johnson-directed short film for yourself below.

As previously reported, My Dear Melancholy, features six tracks, as well as production from Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, Skrillex, Mike WiLL Made-It and Frank Dukes.

A "physical component" of the record will arrive on April 13 via XO/Republic. You can pre-order it here.
