BY Sarah MurphyPublished Dec 8, 2017

Vancouver alt-country unit the Sumner Brothers are ready to return with their latest album To Elliot — In Remembrance of Wolf, and Exclaim! is giving you an exclusive early listen to it.

The new LP hears the group fronted by Bob and Brian Sumner delivering a set of cover songs that have been deconstructed and rebuilt with earnest simplicity.

Often melancholic and always sincere, the album hears renditions of cuts originally by the likes of Bruce Springsteen ("The Ghost of Tom Joad"), Jolie Holland ("Damn Shame"), the Tragically Hip ("Scared") and Johnny Cash ("On the Evening Train").

Listen to the refreshingly humble, folksy take on eight classic tunes in the player below. To Elliot — In Remembrance of Wolf is officially out on December 15.
