The Story So Far Frontman Dropkicks Selfie-Taking Female Fan Offstage in Toronto

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 12, 2016

Pop-punk unit the Story So Far are currently on tour across North America in support of last year's self-titled LP, but things took a rather unfortunate turn while the band were in Toronto this weekend.

Fan-shot footage from the group's scheduled stop at the Mod Club on Sunday (April 10) has surfaced online and it shows singer Parker Cannon forcefully dropkicking a female fan off the stage during a performance of "High Regard."

The clip sees a series of rowdy concertgoers getting in on the action, playfully jumping on- and offstage in the spirit of punk rock fun. But when the aforementioned female fan hops up and whips out her phone to take a selfie, Cannon dropkicks her in the back, sending her face first into the crowd below.

Crashing a stage to take a selfie isn't a particularly awesome thing to do, but Cannon's reaction proves that the scene still has a long way to go with regards to levelling the field between the sexes (a point particularly poignantly examined by Jessica Hopper in her essay on emo culture "Where the Girls Aren't" from her book The First Collection of Criticism by a Living Female Rock Critic).

Neither the band nor the fan on the receiving end of Cannon's foot have made a public comment about the incident. Watch the footage from the show in the player below.
