The Shins Extend North American Tour, Share New Videos

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 10, 2017

The Shins release their new album Heartworms today (March 10), and they've now revealed a long string of new North America tour dates in support of it. In addition to previously announced slots at festivals like Ottawa Bluesfest, WayHome and Osheaga, the band have fleshed out their touring itinerary to include a couple more Canadian shows, as well as more in the U.S.

The tour kicks off tonight in L.A. before heading to New York and then over to Europe. The Shins will eventually make it back to North America and wind their way north of the border for newly announced shows in Edmonton on May 23, Calgary on May 24 and Vancouver on May 27. The remainder of their Canadian stops will take place at the aforementioned festivals: Ottawa's RBC Bluesfest, Oro-Medonte's WayHome and Montreal's Osheaga.

Check out the group's full list of shows below.

The band have also unveiled a pair of clips for album cut "Name for You." In addition to a video for the album version of the track, there's also a "flipped" version, which is the result of a songwriting experiment by frontman James Mercer.

According to a press release, he wrote two renditions of every song on Heartworms, amassing an entire second album's worth of songs. It remains to be seen if the rest of the "flipped" versions will surface in the future, but you can at least check out "Name for You" — in both its iterations — below.
