​The Roots Enlist Daveed Diggs, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jidenna, Run-DMC's Darryl McDaniels for NBA All-Star Musical

The NBA All-Star Game descends upon New Orleans this weekend, and as part of the festivities, the Roots will stage a basketball-themed musical on Sunday (February 19).
 
As Billboard reports, the show has been dubbed The Evolution of Greatness, and it tells the story of the league's history from the 1950s to now. The Roots composed original music for the show, but they've also enlisted a star-studded cast to stage the production.
 
Hamilton and Clipping. star Daveed Diggs, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jidenna, Run-DMC's Darryl McDaniels and actor Michael B. Jordan will all perform in the show.
 
In addition to the Roots' production, stars will be taking the court in a celebrity match on Friday night (February 17). The rosters include famous names like Arcade Fire's Win Butler, Nick Cannon, Ansel Elgort, Tom Cavanagh, Anthony Mackie and Master P.
 
Also slated to hit the court over the course of the weekend are DNCE to perform on Saturday night (February 18), and DJ Khaled to perform before the three-point shot contest that same eveing.
 
The All-Star basketball game itself tips off at 8 p.m. EST on Sunday (February 19), and will be prefaced by Jon Batiste and Nikki Yanofsky singing the American and Canadian national anthems.
