The Luyas' Jessie Stein & Pietro Amato Unveil New Instrumental Album

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Mar 21, 2018

Known best for their work with the Luyas, members Jessie Stein and Pietro Amato are striking out from their band project to deliver their first LP of instrumental music.

Stein and Amato will deliver the two-track After Language through Paper Bag Records on April 13. The album was recorded after a studio-mate was loaned a piano for the Luyas' rehearsal space. Recorded live off the floor in Montreal with minimal edits, the album was mixed by Sandro Perri.

Speaking of the sessions, Amato said, "We weren't even trying to make a record. We just got excited about having a piano in our space and started recording. It's basically our subconscious coming out in audio form. We really didn't actually set out to make anything specific."

As the inaugural release in Paper Bag's Hundreds Series, After Language will be available as a physical-only release, with 25 hand-numbered copies on black wax available for pre-order here.

Stein and Amato will also perform three shows behind the release, and you can find details for those below.
