Legendary British rock band the Kinks are celebrating their 60th anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion, they have announced The Journey, a two-part remastered anthology of their greatest hits arriving via BMG

The Journey - Part 1 will be released on March 24 in 2LP, 2CD and digital formats. The physical albums come with band photos and notes from the surviving members detailing the production of each song. Kinks essentials including "You Really Got Me," "All Day and All of the Night" and "Waterloo Sunset" are highlights among the album's first part, which covers music released between 1964 and 1975.

Frontman Ray Davies had just this to say about the upcoming release: "Ask yourself the question, is this journey really necessary?.......Yes!"

Details of The Journey - Part 2 and several celebratory events will be announced in the coming months.
