After mapping out a world tour in support of new album Imploding the Mirage last week, the Killers have postponed ticket sales due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement shared to social media, the band explained that tickets would not go on sale as "the news is changing every hour around coronavirus," and that they would like fans "to stay focused on prevention and remaining safe and cautious right now."
The Killers added, "Once we go on sale, we will be providing a portion of our ticketing income to local organizations who help people whose services industry jobs are impacted by the coronavirus in each of our tour cities.
"We are taking this personally. Both we and our families have had these jobs and our hearts go out to those affected," the band wrote, concluding, "If anything changes again, we'll let you know; in the meantime, we're more excited than ever to sing these new songs with you, and can't wait to see you soon."
The Killers' world tour behind Imploding the Mirage is set to kick off May 26 in the U.K. Three stops in Canada have been included on the itinerary. The band will first play Vancouver's Rogers Arena in August, ahead of scheduled stops at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena and Montreal's Bell Centre in September.
