The Internet Thinks the "Drake Curse" Is to Blame for the Leafs' Loss Last Night

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 18, 2019

The Toronto Maple Leafs are the latest professional sports team to fall victim to the curse of their own hometown hero, Drake.

The rapper was jokingly accused of causing a string of football teams to lose after posing for pictures with players while on his European "Assassination Vacation" tour — including members of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.

But when French football team Paris Saint-Germain fell 5-1 to Lille OSC on Saturday (April 13) after PSG defender Layvin Kurzawa snapped an Instagram picture with Drizzy, things really ramped up.

AS Roma even went so far as to ban their players from taking photos with Drake.

Sadly, though, the "Drake curse" continued when he returned to the Six last night (April 17) for Game 4 between the Leafs and Bruins at the Scotiabank Arena.

Before the puck dropped, announcers revealed that Drake was in the building and sporting a Leafs jersey (No. 6, of course). Predictably, the Leafs went on to lose 6-4, despite a late third period rally.

Naturally, everyone on the Internet is blaming Drake. Check out some of the hilarious fallout below.

The Leafs play their next game tomorrow night (April 19) in Boston — so hopefully Drake's not planning on making the trip there (or to Orlando to watch the Raptors for that matter).
