This Figure Skater Performed to Beyoncé at the Olympics and the Internet Is Loving It

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 12, 2018

The Olympics got under way in PyeongChang over the weekend, and while French figure skater Maé-Bérénice Méité may not have ended up on the podium, she did win over the Internet by performing a routine set to Beyoncé songs.

Méité skated to a medley of "Run the World (Girls)" and a cover of "Halo" by Jasmine Thompson during the women's short program on Saturday night (February 10).

As previously reported, an old rule was lifted earlier this year, making this the first Olympic Games to allow athletes to skate to music with lyrics.

The performance landed Méité in ninth place overall, but she nevertheless delivered one of the most memorable skates of the evening.

Watch footage of her skate, and see some of the social media appreciation her performance garnered below.
