The Flaming Lips Are Playing a COVID-Safe Concert Where Everyone Will Be in Giant Plastic Balls

BY Josiah HughesPublished Nov 12, 2020

If you were worried that the Flaming Lips were going to get through a new album cycle without an opportunity for Wayne Coyne to writhe around inside of his giant plastic ball, fret not. The Oklahoma group have announced plans for a new socially distanced concert that will see Coyne along with the entire audience and all of the Flaming Lips getting a respective plastic ball of their own.

On December 11, Coyne and co. will present the "World's First Space Bubble Concert," which will see everyone suit up for the show at Oklahoma City's the Criterion. Tickets will go on sale tomorrow (November 13) and will be limited to 100.

If you're wondering what it would look like, the band did a test run at the venue earlier this year, and that now serves as the music video for their American Head track "Assassins of Youth."
