The Elwins

"Hocus Pocus" (lyric video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Nov 23, 2017

Ontario indie popsters the Elwins served some serious spirit fingers in their recent video for "Hey! Ya, You," and now they're back with some extra cheer.

Over the next little while, the band will be "unboxing" a video or two for a track off Beauty Community every week — so, regardless of what holiday you choose to celebrate come December, you'll have something to watch and enjoy thanks to the Elwins.

The first video gift arrives with a clip for "Hocus Pocus," which was directed by Zach Rose and Jesse Korgema. The lyric video was filmed in the bandmates' hometown of Newmarket (the beautiful community referenced in the LP's title), and it finds the group getting their bowl on at a local alley. All the while, neon-lit lyrics scrawl across the screen.

"The title is intended to invoke the connection we, as a band, have to our hometown and the memories created growing up and frequenting local hangouts like bowling alleys, malls, parks, etc.," the band tell Exclaim! "The full video series is intended to play out like a day in the life of the band leading up to a concert. It's fun, tongue-in-cheek and something we were grateful to have the opportunity to work on with a town so dear to our hearts."
