The Dirty Nil Revisit Early Work for 'Minimum R&B' Compilation

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 9, 2017

The Dirty Nil just delivered their debut full-length Higher Power last year, but the Hamilton-spawned rockers are digging into their pre-LP vaults for a new compilation.

Dubbed Minimum R&B, the record features a collection of 7-inch singles, the band's Smite EP and one previously unreleased track. It will arrive both digitally and physically on April 28 through Dine Alone/Fat Wreck Chords.

The tracks on the forthcoming comp give fans a glimpse into the groundwork that laid the foundation for the Dirty Nil's aforementioned debut, and the band cite an alarming list of inspirations behind the offering, which includes: "broken vintage fuzz pedals, the show television 'destroyed in seconds,' girls night out wine, smashing reverb tanks with hammers, a small lake of black coffee, horrible recording conditions, general negligence, recording vocals naked, beer, blood, broken bones, broken instruments, broken ears, inescapable loudness, screaming, unresolved girl problems, exposed wiring, no pants, no shoes, making our producers drink more than they wanted to, and a dozen donuts."

Once you've digested all of that, take a look at the tracklisting for Minimum R&B below. You'll also find info on the group's upcoming Canadian tour dates with Billy Talent and Monster Truck, and can relive the oldie-but-goodie "Fuckin' Up Young."
