The Damned Plot New Album, Map Out North American Tour

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Oct 24, 2016

Legendary London punks the Damned last released new music in 2008 with So, Who's Paranoid? Eight years on, the band have now revealed plans for a full-length of new material through crowdfunding platform PledgeMusic.

A press release reveals that Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, Monty Oxymoron, Pinch and Stu West will hit the studio this winter to record the album, slated for release in 2017. For now, the PledgeMusic campaign offers album pre-orders for digital formats, on CD and coloured vinyl. Other perks include signed lyric sheets, art prints, test pressings, tour meet & greet packages, and even a Skype lesson with guitarist Captain Sensible.

You can find more info on the campaign over here.

Along with the new album announcement, the band have lined up a full North American tour that will take place next year. Kicking off April 6 in Los Angeles, the Damned will spend just shy of two months on the road. Canadian listeners can find the band in Vancouver at the Commodore Ballroom on April 15, while the group will hit Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre and Montreal's Club Soda on April 30 and May 2, respectively.

This year also marks the release of the Damned's classic debut single "New Rose," for which the band have lined up a limited-edition 7-inch anniversary release. The picture disc will feature original artwork and a fold-out poster and is also available through the PledgeMusic campaign. It's set for release on November 4 via BMG.
