Coming up to its 2020 edition, Toronto's annual Bout Music Festival and battle of the bands competition is returning to the Hideout.

With over 100 bands competing, performances are scheduled to take place on Fridays and Saturdays at the Hideout over a few months beginning in January of next year.

Each band will perform a 30-45 minute set with use of a full backline of equipment, including two guitar amps, a bass rig, drums, microphones, XLRs, DIs, mic stands and full use of the Hideout's PA system.

Festival attendees can vote for the act they want to win online following the band's set.

Every band who enters the competition is eligible for cash prizes from a pool of $20,000, and one grand prize of $12,000 and recording time with Trouble Town Records for the winner of the competition. Each performer will also have an opportunity to earn $250 from complementary ticket sales.

Additionally, artists will be invited to join the showcase "family dinner" before their performance and will receive full, free access to all of the Bout events during the competition.

While the competition is inclusive of all genres, band registration is now closed. Stay tuned to Exclaim! for details about opening night and how you can participate as an attendee/performer in upcoming showcases.
