The Awful Truth

"Know You by Name" (video)

Minneapolis, MN-based indie pop outfit the Awful Truth will release their debut full-length Glisten early in the new year, but before the entire album arrives, Exclaim! is giving you a look at the brand new video for "Know You by Name."

The new songs on the album hear the band upping their ambitions from previous work — something that is reflected in the fact that the new record took a year and a half to write and record.

"The group has solidified and become something I never thought it could making the arrangements more elevated than ever before" frontman Brent Colbert said in a statement. "They still really reflect a lot of internal dialogue I am experiencing but aim to be less alienating and provide a tone and mood that is less brooding and more inviting of light, even when that light is subtle."

That glimmer of light can be heard from the jangly opening chords, bouncing percussive beat and buoyant vocals of "Know You by Name." The track's accompanying video was directed by Everett Thomas Fitch and finds Colbert out in the wilderness, roaming vast meadows and rocky shores, even multiplying at times to give himself some help on the harmonies.

Glisten is officially out on January 6 through the Homestead Records.
