Yesterday (December 11), Morrissey took to social media attempting to clarify controversial comments he had made about Donald Trump, Kevin Spacey and more, claiming he had been misquoted by German publication Der Spiegel.
After claiming the paper had refused requests to provide him with "unchopped, un-fiddled-with" audio of their chat, staff have now shared the tape publicly. As they wrote (translated from German), "We have decided to put the interview online now — even if it is self-evident from our point of view that interviews published in Spiegel do not contain false or misleading citations."
As previously reported, Morrissey specifically mentioned the allegations against Spacey put forward by Anthony Rapp, saying, "When you are in somebody's bedroom, you have to be aware of where that can lead to... That's why it does not sound very credible to me. It seems to me that Spacey has been attacked unnecessarily."
