The American Music Awards the Morning After: The Weeknd Performs, Green Day Get Political, Drake and Justin Bieber Win Big
Last night (November 20), the American Music Awards were handed out in a star-studded ceremony that spawned plenty of memorable moments.

Despite not being American, Justin Bieber brought home an armful of trophies, winning in categories like Video of the Year, Favorite Male Artist (Pop/Rock), Favurite Album (Pop/Rock), and Favorite Song (Pop/Rock) for "Love Yourself."

Fellow Canuck Drake, meanwhile, swept the hip-hop categories, taking home the top prizes for Favorite Artist (Rap/Hip-Hop), Favorite Album (Rap/Hip-Hop) and Favorite Song (Rap/Hip-Hop) for "Hotline Bling." After the show, he celebrated by hanging out with chart-topping popster Shawn Mendes, who he has now dubbed the "Pickering Gawd." Oh, and he also dropped a cringe-worthy Apple Music ad.

Rihanna was the night's other big winner, taking home the trophies for Favorite Female Artist (Soul/R&B), Favorite Album (Soul/R&B) and Favorite Song (Soul/R&B) for "Work," featuring fellow winner Drake.

The night wasn't just about the awards, though, as plenty of huge stars graced the stage for performances. The Weeknd, Lady Gaga and Green Day each performed. The latter's performance proved to be particularly politically charged, with the band adding a "No Trump! No KKK! No fascist USA!" chant to the middle of their hit "Bang Bang."

There were also plenty of collaborations, including team-ups from Kendrick Lamar and Maroon 5, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj and DJ Khaled with Minaj, August Alsina, Future and Rick Ross.

You can see footage from some of those performances down below.
