Barrie, ON-based four-piece the Alpacas will release their debut LP The Best Is Behind You later this year, and Exclaim! is giving you the first listen to "Wax" from the upcoming album.
The record was cut with producer, engineer and mixer Kevin Dietz in the Greater Toronto Area, at Toronto's Metalworks and Newmarket's Slipone Digital. As for the single itself, the band took the inspiration for it from some of their punk and indie icons like Johnny Ramone, the Strokes and Tim-era Replacements.
"In some ways it's about being happiest playing a gig," they tell Exclaim! "How being social when you don't always want to be is a trade off for doing what you love. Getting what you want also means keeping yourself in check."
Hear those themes get turned into a crisp, crunchy three-minute blast of indie rock in the player below.
The Best Is Behind You is set to arrive on October 14 via Willow Music.
