One With the Underdog

BY Greg PrattPublished Sep 1, 2004

With liner notes boasting four guest vocalists and no less than 15 backup screamers, One With the Underdog is one hell of a hardcore album. These guys are pissed off and do a good job at basic, stripped down, speedy hardcore. No punches are pulled on these 13 tunes, which is to an almost unbearable extent. But amidst those riffs, there’s a lot of sincerity oozing out of these five tough-ass, bad dudes, that any stench of cheese (which gets pretty strong once 20 minutes or so starts to pass) or trace of ennui the listener may feel are wiped clean. The result is good, solid sincere stuff devoid of trend, but the shelf life for this one is going to depend on the listener’s personal experience with the genre, age, context in life, etc.
