Teklife is a Chicago footwork crew that, perhaps most notably, is attached to the late DJ Rashad. Now, Teklife is making the transition to a full-blown record label with the announcement of its inaugural release — a compilation album showcasing the group's roster.
While Teklife previously teamed up with Hyperdub for 2014's DJ Rashad tribute comp Next Life, this is the group's first release of their very own. It will include material from DJ Rashad, DJ Spinn, DJ Earl, DJ TAYE, TASO and, according to an announcement, "pretty much everybody from the crew."
The comp is expected out in November of 2015. It will initially only be available digitally, but a limited edition vinyl pressing will follow if there is enough demand. Those who are potentially interested in a vinyl release can sign up here for updates and a chance at first dibs on records.
