Since releasing 2013's Heartthrob, Tegan and Sara have buddied up with Taylor Swift, contributed to The Lego Movie and celebrated the 10th anniversary of So Jealous — but the Canadian twin duo have still managed to find the time to piece together their next studio album.
The band announced via Twitter last night (November 30) that work on their eighth record was pretty much wrapped. With sequencing done, the album is slated for mastering today (December 1). For anyone who still had doubts, they tacked on a parenthesized: "ps that means it's done."
Heartthrob heard the sisterly two-piece take their sound in an overwhelmingly poppier direction, using "'80s synths and other sparkly instrumentation to create a compelling push-pull dynamic with often-personal narratives."
We'll still have to wait for firm details about the forthcoming record and to find out what it might sound like, but it seems like the arrival might not be too far off.
