Tegan and Sara recently released Heartthrob, and now the musical twins have given the visual treatment to another song from the album by releasing a lyric video for "Now I'm All Messed Up."
The song is dramatic, R&B-flavoured breakup ballad, and the accompanying video consists entirely of hand-written lyrics and brightly coloured splotches of liquid. It was created by Travis Hopkins, who also helmed the lyric video for "Closer."
In a blog post, the band noted that this song has translated into emotional live performances, and explained, "We wanted to bring that same level of emotion to the lyric video for the song, and we really think we achieved that with the unique ink and water treatment that brings to mind writing a good old fashioned heartbreaking letter and sobbing all over it!"
