Two years after dropping their debut LP 7AM, Teengirl Fantasy have announced its follow-up, Tracer. The electronic two-piece's next sepia-toned set arrives August 21 through True Panther Sounds.
According to a press release, while 7AM mixed hazy, minimalist beats with streams of samples, Tracer is completely sample-free. Described as "their most compositionally sophisticated work yet," the album allegedly finds members Nick Weiss and Logan Takahashi weaving multiple sonic elements into songs referencing techno, pop, house and R&B.
"The editing is more painstaking -- there's more crafting to the songs," the group said in a statement.
The album also features a number of guest vocalists, including Panda Bear, Laurel Halo, Daft Punk collaborator Romanthony and Kelela. Tracer's tracklisting and a trailer for the album, which features a gauzy, piano-and-electronic percussion arrangement, can be seen below.
