Tear Away Tusa Reveal New EP, Premiere "Body's Sound"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 10, 2015

The members of Tear Away Tusa met and formed in the University of Guelph's music program, but rather than heading back to school this September, they're getting ready to deliver a brand new set of tunes before the end of the year. A self-titled EP is due out on December 11.

The forthcoming EP marks the band's second, but the first that's heard them work with a producer. It was recorded with Ross Hayes Citrullo and mastered by Joao Carvalho. Across four new songs, Tear Away Tusa showcase their soul, jazz and classic rock influences, neatly tied together with a bit of poppy polish.

Known for their previous live performances of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, the new record channels some of that beloved psychedelia into "lush soundscapes, danceable grooves, and catchy melodies."

"When we recorded our first EP we wanted to capture what we could do with our two hands and mouth in the moment," said guitarist Sam Schwartzbein in a statement. "For the new record, our producer Ross urged us to remove those limits and suggested that if we could hear it, we should record it. Rather than an archival of time and place, it felt more like painting; constantly adding colours."

To give you a taste of what to expect on the new record, Exclaim! is pleased to premiere the upcoming EP's opening tune "Body's Sound." Soulful, infectious and colourful, the new track is sure to get you in the groove. Scroll past the EP's tracklisting and the band's upcoming shows to give it a spin. You can also download it here
