Team Robespierre

Everything's Perfect

BY Josiah HughesPublished Feb 20, 2008

Adding to the new punk sound spearheaded by fellow Brooklynites Parts & Labor and Matt & Kim, Team Robespierre combine vintage synthesisers with frantic group vocals and melodic rock-outs that can often deviate into hyphy breakdowns. Everything’s Perfect, their debut full-length, strikes an ideal balance between goofiness and aggression. Opener "Laika” combines the call-and-response vocals of a hardcore anthem with a powerfully addictive chorus. Meanwhile, "Ha Ha Ha” offers up some guitar-and-synth pop punk reminiscent of Atom and His Package and "Mal De Mar” offers some creeping hip-hop. Charming and often irresistible, Team Robespierre know how to get the party started.
