Published Mar 02, 2009Having already conquered the mixtape and clubbing circuit, Team Canada DJs are now heading into the business of releasing records via a new venture called Tremendous Records. Headed by Aaron Waisglass, better known as Grandtheft from the two-man party crew of Team Canada, Tremendous is a project focused on "new, forward-thinking club/rock music" with the "intent on acting as a breeding ground for new talent... a well-run home for developing artists who are on the brink of breaking through to commercial success."
Sounds like every other label, right? Well, where Tremendous will stand out amongst the millions of other upstart labels is in running a full-on digital-only operation with distribution coming from the proven track record of the folks over at Last Gang Records (Crystal Castles, Metric, DFA79).
Wasting no time, Tremendous has already gone and discovered some new talent, signing Denmark-based the Wong Boys, who will drop their "sure-fire-club-banger" label debut "Git Ur Fuk On" on March 10. You can hear DJ Illo's remix of the track by clicking here.
The Wong Boys will be making their North American debut at CMW in Toronto for a string of gigs before they head over to Montreal and then down to Austin for some SXSW action. Here are the dates:
3/11 Toronto, ON - CMW TBA
3/12 Toronto, ON - Wrong Bar
3/13 Toronto, ON - Supermarket
3/14 Montreal, QC - The Academy
