Taylor Swift has been announced as the recipient of GLAAD's 2020 Vanguard Award.
The LGBTQ+ advocacy organization will present Swift with the honour at its annual GLAAD Media Awards on April 16.
Swift has been praised by many for her efforts to support the Equality Act in Tennessee, starting a petition in favour of legislation to protect LGBTQ+ people from discrimination in employment, housing and other public fields.
She also celebrated LGBTQ+ culture in her Lover single "You Need to Calm Down," singing, "Why are you mad, when you could be GLAAD?"
The video featured a number of LGBTQ+-identifying celebrities, including Ellen DeGeneres, Adam Lambert, Laverne Cox, RuPaul, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, the Queer Eye cast, Billy Porter and Adam Rippon.
Previous recipients of the GLAAD Vanguard award include Beyoncé and JAY-Z, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato and Cher.
In addition to Swift, the awards ceremony will also honour Janet Mock with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award, which is presented to a professional who has promoted LGBTQ+ acceptance. Mock is best known as an author and a producer on Pose.
