Taylor Swift is telling her fans that her former label Big Machine and its owner Scooter Braun are planning to release an unauthorized album of her songs tonight, calling the move "tasteless."
In a post on her Instagram stories today, Swift said the album contains a collection of live songs she recorded in 2008, with those now being packaged together by Big Machine for a new digital collection. As Swifties know, Braun acquired Big Machine last year and, in the process, the rights to her first six albums — something Swift has never been too happy about.
The album being released tonight is called Live from Clear Channel Stripped 2008, and it's already out in select parts of the world. The record will apparently arrive at midnight here in North America, but you can already preview it below. Oddly, Apple Music states the year of release as 2017.

I'm always honest with you guys about this stuff so I just wanted to tell you that this release is not approved by me. It looks to me like Scooter Braun and his financial backers, 23 Capital, Alex Soros and the Soros family and The Carlyle Group have seen the latest balance sheets and realized that paying $330 MILLION for my music wasn't exactly a wise choice and they need money.
In my opinion...Just another case of shameless greed in the time of Coronavirus. So tasteless, but very transparent.
